The heart of Latched Mama · Est. 2014
Born from motherhood. Built for you.
It started with a mom who needed something better. It grew into a village of moms who knew they deserved it, too.
Clothes for nursing. Community for everything else.
Real life. Real motherhood.
Real life. Real motherhood.More than what you wear
Motherhood changes everything.
You deserve to feel like yourself.
Comfortable clothes. A little confidence. Someone who gets it. We believe every mom deserves all three.

01 / A mom on a mission
A park bench.
A hungry baby. A better idea.
Before Latched Mama was a brand, it was Melissa, feeding her baby Alex on a cold playground bench. An unzipped sweatshirt, a cold zipper against his cheek, and one very familiar thought: there has to be a better way.
The nursing clothes she found were expensive and didn’t feel like her. So she set out to create what was missing: functional, comfortable, affordable clothes that made feeding a baby a little easier.
Latched Mama launched in the fall of 2014. What began as a need for better clothes became a mission to help moms feel supported, connected, and more like themselves.
From the family album
Little beginnings. A whole lot of heart.

I found my passion in providing for other women what the experience had lacked for me: support, community, and postpartum clothes that actually fit.

02 / Meet the Wirts
Family is where our story lives.
Melissa, her husband Eric, and their six children make their home outside Richmond, Virginia. Life on the farm is full of little adventures, beautiful chaos, and the everyday moments that inspired this brand.
That same real-life motherhood is at the center of everything we do. Because we’re living it right alongside you.
03 / The moms behind Latched Mama
Moms supporting moms. Wherever we are.
Today, our team is made up of work-from-home moms, doing meaningful work with our babies in tow. Our customer service team and trained, certified lactation consultants are still answering your emails, helping with your questions, and supporting your breastfeeding journey. We understand the season you’re in—because we’re living it, too.
2016–2026 / A decade of babies at work
We helped lead the way. With our babies beside us.
For a decade, Latched Mama helped lead the conversation about babies in the workplace by making it part of everyday working life. Moms answered questions, packed orders, and grew their careers with their little ones close by.
Babies napped beside desks. Toddlers played among familiar faces. Coworkers became part of one another’s village. We built a business around the belief that a mother’s care, experience, and ambition all belong at work.

Our why, at work
Built around motherhood. Every step of the way.
From the dining room to a team of moms working from home, our story has always made room for family.

Where it all began
Two little kids. One dining room. A big idea.
Melissa started Latched Mama with two young children at home. The dining room became the business headquarters, and the family room became the studio for product photos. Work and motherhood grew side by side from the very beginning.

Room to grow
Our first warehouse. Our first employees.
Latched Mama moved into its first warehouse and welcomed its first employees. As the team grew, so did the opportunity to build a workplace that understood what moms needed.

More space. The same heart.
A bigger warehouse. Babies still welcome.
We moved into a larger warehouse and continued our babies-in-the-workplace policy. As our team grew, we expanded the support around them: 100 days of paid maternity leave, employee health insurance paid 100% by Latched Mama, and flexible PTO.
The idea was simple: let moms be moms first.

The village, in print
I Was Told There’d Be a Village
Melissa’s book launched on April 8, 2025, carrying the mission beyond nursing clothes. Through her own experiences and stories from mothers across the country, she shares practical ways to build connection and find support in motherhood.
It’s an invitation to move from doing it all alone to building a village, one small connection at a time.

Motherhood comes home
A new chapter, with family at the center.
Latched Mama transitioned to a work-from-home team, giving our staff the freedom to work with their babies in tow. Our customer service team and trained, certified lactation consultants continue answering emails and supporting moms, just as they always have. For Melissa, that shift also created more room for the full, busy life of raising six active kids: homeschooling, caring for them, driving them to activities, and being there for the everyday moments in between.
Paid maternity leave, fully paid employee health insurance, flexible PTO, and our other parent-support policies remain in place. The pregnancy and postpartum stipend and lactation support continue, too.
Moms first. Then, now, and wherever we go next.
